Wheel of the Year- the Sabbats- Hemisphere Dates
Teaching Wicca, one of the hardest things i find for my first year students to grasp is the alteration of the dates of our Sabbat festivals between Northern and Southern Hemisphere. No matter how much we go over it, the confusion remains. So, for others suffering the same fate, I am including a list of the Sabbats, with alternative names and dates according to the hemisphere they occur in. The Lesser Sabbats Summer Solstice aka Litha or Midsummers Eve

NH - 21-23 JUNE Winter Solstice aka Yule or Midwinters Eve

NH - 21-23 DECEMBER Autumn Equinox aka Mabon or the Second Harvest Festival

NH - 2nd February **Please note that there is always some difference of opinion regarding actual Sabbat dates, however the dates above are widely accepted as being as close to the actual date as possible.** SAMHAIN is considered to be the beginning and the end of the Witches year. |
