Cassandra
Cassandra was a Greek Goddess and according to mythology the most powerful prophetess to ever live. She was a daughter of King Priam and sister to Hector and Paris. Mythology tells how Cassandra was so beautiful that even the God, Apollo was smitten. Cassandra was not interested in the Sun God's intentions and spurned his advances, making him so angry that her cursed her for all time. The Curse ? The worst possible curse for a prophetess- that from that time forth, no matter what she fore-saw or would foretell, she was never again to be believed. And so it was. Cassandra lived with full knowledge of the tragedies that faced her and her people, yet could tell no one, or advise or warn, because nothing she said was ever to be believed again. |
